Seminars Part 1
We’ve been working hard this year to bring you a fantastic range of seminars, each designed to serve young people wherever they’re at in their faith.
Look out for:
How to Be Human | The Big Top (All ages)
This year we’re diving into the first three chapters of Genesis with a series of talks exploring some central foundations for both the gospel and our humanity. Each seminar will feature two 15mins talks followed by a discussion with the speakers about the subject.
Topics: What it means to be made in God’s image, why it matters that God is the creator. What the Bible says about sex and marriage, sin and suffering.
___________
Faith & Doubt | The Depot (All ages)
In Mark chapter 9 Jesus responds to the desperate cry of a father in need of help. He says to him “all things are possible for the one who believes,” to which the man responds: “I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief.” If you’ve ever resonated with the father’s response, then this seminar stream is for you. Each seminar will feature interactive content designed to explore the relationship between faith, doubt, reason and certainty. We’ll consider the limits of reason and the important place of asking honest questions about the Christian faith.
Topics: Wrestling with doubt, thinking about faith, having confidence in what we believe.
___________
True Stories | The Dugout (12-14s)
Every life has a story, and every story points to something bigger. In True Stories, we’ve lined up some fantastic story tellers to share their journey of coming to know Jesus—how they encountered Him, the challenges they've faced along the way, and the difference He continues to make in their lives today.
___________
Becoming Men / Becoming Women | The Hangar / Indoor Sports (all ages)
What kind of men and women are our young people becoming? In a world that constantly pressures us to conform to its ideas of masculinity and femininity, what does the Bible say about the kind of men and women we should aspire to be?This year, we're excited to offer two seminar streams—one for young men and one for young women—that explore these questions in depth. Each stream is accompanied by its own handbook, and these sessions are about far more than simply listening to teaching. Together, they'll help our young people develop a richer, more compelling biblical vision of the kind of people God is calling them to become—and the kind of lives worth pursuing.
Becoming Men Topics: What culture tells about masculinity, the battles men face, how we become men and the image of the ultimate man
Becoming Women Topics: Lies, labels and liberation, having real faith and dealing with real feelings, living for God in a self-obsessed world, finding rest in a culture that never stops
___________
Discover | The Prayer Space (all ages)
The Bible is the basic food of the disciple. We’re committed to helping you learn to read it, love it and listen for God’s voice as he speaks through it. In this seminar stream we’ll do just that. Using a simple tool for reading the Bible together, we’ll discover how God worked in the lives of his first disciples and how he wants to work in our lives too.
Topics: receiving God’s promises, experiencing God’s power, sharing God’s word and witnessing God change hearts.
___________
Being a Disciple | The Cowshed (12-14s)
Figuring out what it means to follow Jesus in day to day life can be tough, but we’ve got you covered! Over the course of the week we want to help you discover for yourself the richness of the Word of God, the incredible power of the Holy Spirit and the beauty and thrill of the local church. All of it designed to help you on your journey to becoming adventurous disciples of Jesus.
Topics: What it means to be a disciple of Jesus, how to live as radical followers of Jesus and how the people of God helps our walk with God.
