Seminars for Adults and Youth Leaders
Each year at Newday, we aim to not only serve our young people, but equip the adults on site as well. We've got a seminar stream just for Youth Leaders, professionals and family members who are leading young people! This year in our Youth Culture seminar stream (taking place each morning in the Youth Culture cafe) we're running seminars on Creating Space.
We're sharing practical tips and fresh thinking when it comes to making space to lead young people well. Join our team of leaders and professionals as we look at trauma and family dynamics, intentional discipleship, innovative youth work, raising young leaders, and more throughout the week.
Tuesday | Making Space for Intentional, Multi-generational Discipleship
Speaker: Ben Rowe
How do we approach multi-generational church and succession? What does it look like for me to be mentored and to be a mentor? We'll refocus on what is in important as we start the week, taking a look at Elijah and Elisha in the Bible, and of course Jesus, with time to pray. Ben will be encouraging us in our greater call and purpose as well as making sure we are topped up in prayer.

Wednesday | Youth Wellbeing, navigating trauma and The Village
Speakers: Nick Harris, Gabi Price and Ali Williams
Our young people bring with them such a range of life experiences. We'll be exploring the emotional, practical and relational needs of young people and how we can serve effectively. Through talks and Q&A, this seminar will help teams to lead ministry moments through the week and in local contexts. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by the task ahead of us, we want to empower and resource you to feel able to work as a team, and handle difficult situations and sensitive topics with care and consideration. In this seminar, you'll hear from experts and practitioners with great tips on how to build kind, wise and resilient support systems for young people and your team.

Thursday | Making Space for Young Leaders
Speaker: Adz Brennan
In this seminar we aim to cast a vision for your youth work that draws the most out of every young person in it. With inspiring stories and practical experience, come hear about how one youth leader learnt to lead the next generation by building a youth group led by young people. Adz and his young panel will provide helpful 'Dos & Don'ts', real life examples and nuanced encouragement. They'll explore freeing up capacity, spotting gifts and skills, and remaining positive about failure.

Friday | Making Space for Those on the Edge
Speaker: Accessibility Team
What if we did things differently? This seminar is a chance to assess our culture and courage in thinking outside the box when delivering the love of Christ. Are we connecting with those who may be experiencing social, emotional, mental, or physical barriers to our youth environment? At any point, any one of us could experience a life change that creates one of these barriers - but Jesus made space for those often overlooked by society. We believe that churches and youth groups ought to be among the best communities in the country at welcoming and honouring disabled people, those with additional needs, or neurodiversity and any person who may be struggling to connect.
Our incredible Accessibility team will be discussing and hosting a Q&A. This seminar has lessons for everyone - see you there!
