Newday Teams You May Interact With

Newday couldn’t happen without our team of over 1000 of volunteers who serve the event in a huge variety of ways. From setting up the venues to organising caterers, recording podcasts to cleaning toilets, there are so many unsung heroes on site. We want to highlight some of the teams you may interact with within your role as a youth leader or group coordinator for your church:

The One Team
The One Team is made up of everyone serving Newday across the site, from Tech and Operations to Stewards and the Cleaning Team. They all wear One Team t-shirts and lanyards, making them easy to spot. Everyone plays an important role in making the event happen.

Zone Hosts
Each camping zone (named by a colour e.g. The Green Zone!) has a team of friendly Zone Hosts based in a zone marquee. These are marked by bunting and decor in your zone’s colour. They are there to help with practical needs, offer advice, make a cup of tea, and solve problems as they arise. Zone Hosts can also support with site set-up and are a great first point of contact for anything happening within your allocated area. They also are your direct link to Site Pastors who are available to support if difficult situations arise - see below.

Site Pastors
This year we have a team dedicated to supporting with on site issues. While we hope and expect our site to be peaceful and full of joy, we understand that occasional concerns, conflict or prayer support may be needed. Speak to your Zone Hosts if you feel you need on site support from one of our pastors and they’ll be happy to help!

Red Caps
Red Caps wear (you guessed it!) red caps! This 'Ministry Team' can usually be found in main meetings and some seminars. They are there to support delegates who respond during ministry and worship times and to support when large numbers of people would like to be prayed for. They help care for the large number of young people who may respond and are trained to record and share information with youth leaders and the safeguarding team when appropriate.

Stewarding Team
The Stewarding Team wear high-visibility jackets and are responsible for keeping everyone safe as they enter and leave venues. They can point delegates towards amenities and may ask people to move or follow instructions to manage crowds safely. Their role helps ensure a smooth and positive experience for everyone on site.

Safeguarding Team
The Safeguarding Team is made up of many trained professionals and volunteers including social workers, police, teachers, and safeguarding leads. Their role is to ensure the safety of children and young people on site. They receive and respond to any safeguarding concerns that are disclosed and follow the correct procedures to escalate issues if needed. While serious concerns are rare, safeguarding is always treated as a priority and, if ever in doubt, it’s worth chatting with them about what’s on your mind.

Accessibility Team
The Accessibility Team supports delegates with additional needs or extenuating circumstances that affect their experience on site. This includes help with camping locations, shorter queue access, advice on accessible venues and activities, translation, general support throughout the week and more! They work closely with other teams to make the experience as smooth and inclusive as possible, so everyone feels valued and welcomed. When booking in, Group Coordinators are able to highlight whether any provision or advice would be helpful for their group.

12–14s Team
In the 12–14s venue, our friendly Stage Team and wider team are present, every day, to support younger delegates during morning meetings and seminars. They help facilitate conversation, respond to prayer requests, keep the space safe, and model our worship to God. Their consistent presence ensures younger delegates are well supported and encouraged throughout the week.

Pastoral Team
The Pastoral Team is on site to check in with leaders, the One Team, and delegates throughout the week. They are available for conversations about how the week is going and can offer prayer support to anyone who would like it. They also have an office based on site, so that adults on site are able to go and chat with them if they need extra support during the week.

The Medical Team
The Medical Team is made up of trained medical professionals who take time away from their jobs to volunteer at Newday. They have a dedicated area on site, behind the concourse, and are available 24/7 and are equipped to respond to a wide range of medical situations.
